This weekend see’s the first clash of the domestic season, between two of Italy’s fiercest rivals, as Juventus face Torino in the ‘Derby della Mole’. In what is the oldest Derby in Italian football, Juventus will go into it as heavy favourites.
Not only have Juve not lost a league match all season, but they’ve only lost to Torino once in the last 23 years! With Cristiano Ronaldo now finding his feet in Serie A, with 6 goals in his last 7 league games, Torino will be massively up against it, as they look to continue their resilient away form, having only lost once on their travels this season.
Moving over to Spain and Real Madrid will be looking to build upon last week’s less than convincing 1-0 win against bottom of the league SD Huesca, as they welcome Rayo Vallecano to the Bernabeu. The 13 times European Cup champions have endured a tough start to the season and are currently on their third manager of 2018, in Santiago Solari.
The loss of Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be hitting home, as Real currently average 1.5 goals per game, compared to 2.4 last season. Rayo themselves are struggling this season and having only won two from their opening fifteen games, you’d not expect them to put up too much of a fight against Bale, Modric and Benzema etc.
