Olympiakos Piraeus – Ionikos

First-placed Olympiakos welcomes Ionikos for the 9th round of the Greek Super League.

The 'Red and Whites' come from a painful home defeat in the injury time by Eintracht Frankfurt (1-2). A defeat that virtually nullified the hopes of the Piraeus' team for the first place in the Europa League group.

On their return to the Greek league, they want to win against a team that will fight to stay in the Super League, so that they can continue to be alone at the top.

Ionikos, on their return after years at the top level of Greek football, seem capable of securing their spot in Super League with their appearances so far, having a nearly balanced 2-3-3 record. The away match with Olympiakos is one of those that the Nikaians do not count on to gain points, so they will play without any stress.

I expect to see some goals in this match. Olympiacos is the favorite in this one and it seems unlikely to make a false step but also they target a comfortable will so that the team can push their psychology after the unexpected defeat in the injury time in the midweek match. I expect them to fight aggressively from the beginning of the match to secure all three points early. Defensively, the 'red and whites' are not very consistent this season and very easily concede goals even when their opponent does not create many chances. So it will not be at all strange to see Ionikos in the scoresheet.

The odds for Over 2.5 goals are very decent and definitely worth the risk.
