Portugal vs France Match Preview

For the 3rd round of the 6th group, Portugal will face France. The match will be held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest in front of 67,000 spectators.

Portugal is coming from a heavy defeat with 4-2 from Germany, for the 2nd round of the 6th group of Euro 2020. Although they started the match ideally opening the score at 15΄, what came next was unimaginable; they conceded two own goals before the end of the half time falling back to 1-2! Their defensive mistakes continued in the replay, they conceded two more goals scoring only one more at 67΄, shaping the final result.

Despite their defeat, Portugal keep their fate in their own hands, as even with a defeat of up to 2 goals difference, they will qualify for the next phase of the tournament, as long as Hungary does not beat Germany at the same time.

Apparently France had an easy task against Hungary, but on the field things were different. The world champion was forced to a 1-1 draw, as on one hand they underestimated their opponent and on the other hand they wasted many chances to score. They even stayed behind in the score in the last chance of the first half, reaching the equalizer at 66΄, but then they ran out of ideas and could not win.

With this one point, however, they secured the qualification and with a victory against Portugal, they take the lead in the group.

Portugal struggled defensively against Germany, yet they remain a high quality and talented team. France for their part are more comfortable in terms of points but will look for a convincing appearance of psychology.
Both teams score with ease and the same I expect in the match between them, scoring from both sides at odds of 1.97 is my choice.
