Wales vs Denmark Match Preview

Wales and Denmark will face each other in a knockout game for the round of 16 of UEFA EURO 2020 at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam. In case of a tie, a half-hour extension will follow and if necessary the penalty procedure.

Wales finished in second place in the first group with four points. They beat Turkey 2-0, drew 1-1 with Switzerland and so the 1-0 defeat by Italy in the third match did not cost them. Although they were equal to Switzerland in four points, a better goal difference brought them to second place. Definitely they rely a lot on G. Bale, A. Ramsey and K. Moore. The only absence is that of E. Ampadu due to cards.

Denmark, on the other hand, advanced to the next stage with just one victory in the group, that on Russia by 1-4. In the first two games they were defeated by Finland 0-1 and Belgium 1-2. It was the positive goal difference that gave them the qualification. The good news is that Cristian Eriksen is fine after suffering a serious health problem, but will hardly play football again. Kasper Hjulmand will line up with Y. Poulsen, M. Braithwaite and M. Damsgaard in the attacking line.

I expect an ambiguous game, between two teams that will play conservatively, with the primary goal of not conceding goals. As time goes on, the game will become even more closed. I believe they will draw here.
