Aldosivi vs Godoy Cruz Match Preview

The Copa de la Liga Profesional begins in Argentina with the matchup between Aldosivi and Godoy Cruz of the 2nd group at José María Minella. All the matches are still held behind closed doors, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aldosivi aims for a better season trying to leave behind the very bad previous season they had, both in the league and at the Copa Diego Maradona.

The hosts begin their new season with a change on their bench as Ángel Guillermo Hoyos has been sacked and got replaced by the 35yo manager Fernando Rubén Gago.

As part of their recent transfers, two young players joined the team, 21yo Lautaro Guzmán and 22yo Gastón Lodico. On the other hand,  Felipe Rodríguez has been sold. In their preparation for the league, the team faced many injuries and there is a big question mark on how they will perform tonight. The good news for the team is that no club will be relegated this season from Copa de la Liga Profesional. In the following round, they will come up against Racing Club.

Godoy Cruz, on the other hand, had a similar campaign as the hosts and didn't accomplish anything. Their performance was far below average in every match and deservedly finished at the rock bottom of the table. The club had to take action and Diego Martínez has been sacked, getting replaced now by Sebastián Ariel Méndez on their bench.

In the recent transfer window, 26yo striker Jeison Chalá joined the team, alongside Juan Espínola. The football world was plunged into mourning after the shocking news of Godoy Cruz that striker Santiago García had committed suicide and the club has revoked his shirt with the number 18. In their two preparation games they prevailed easily over Argentinos Juniors.

Both sides had a terrible run last year and aim for a better season now. I don't expect many changes from both teams but I think that Godoy Cruz can reach victory here. Godoy Cruz to win DNB will be my call in this one.
