Aston Villa vs West Ham Match Preview

Aston Villa is ranked at the 15th place with three points and comes after a win and two losses over the last three duels. Under Gerrard they have been struggling despite the fact that a lot of money have been spent and the expectations were higher. They lost against teams like Bournemouth and Crystal Palace conceding a total of five goals while scoring just once. The only win came against Everton which is another team that has been struggling big time to find an identity under Lampard.

Offensively they have been playing quite good and scored three goals in three duels averaging a goal per game. Having quality players in attack like Ings and Watkins while being backed up by a player like Coutinho surely raises expectations. I guess the three of them are going to play from the start here.

West Ham, on the other hand, is ranked at 20th spot without a single point so far having one of the worst starts in recent seasons. They have lost all three duels played so far and except from the one against strong Man City, they faced rivals like Nottingham and Brighton. The worst part is that they have conceded 5 goals while failing to score even a single goal. They are the only team which is yet to find the back of the net in the whole league.

It is true they have been a bit distracted by the Europe Conference League qualifiers so now that they secured the group stage they can fully focus on the domestic league. They have also high quality players in their team like Antonio, Bowen or the new signing Scamacca and soon I expect them to improve their form.

In conclusion, I think both teams can score at least a goal here. Aston Villa has been slightly better than their rivals but they surely can do better. Being at home now I fancy them to have a decent performance and find the back of the net. West Ham has also got to change something in their results. In the Europa Conference League competition they got two wins against Viborg where they scored a total of six goals. Of course the level here is not the same but I fancy them to score their first goal in new season's Premier League today.
