They ended last-placed in a group with Brugge, Leverkusen, and Porto which is bad for them because that was not a tough group overall. In Spanish La Liga, they are doing better. They are behind Barcelona and Real Madrid but they are racking up points and now that they are without UEFA Champions League games they could focus on their La Liga tasks.

Espanyol, on the other side, is not doing that good at the moment. They have some issues. Currently, they are in 15th position with 11 points. They are better lately with only 1 loss in last 6 matches. They have 4 draws in that span, but they played against teams like Mallorca, Elche, Osasuna, Valladolid, Cadiz. Those teams are not top-level opponents.

Atletico Madrid is in crisis but now they can fully focus on La Liga and that can be their big advantage. They got a lot of critics after the last games and I believe they will bounce back and win this game against Espanyol in front of their fans.
