Basel – Lugano Match Preview

Basel will host Lugano at St. Jakob-Park in this Swiss Super League football match

Basel is not playing really well this season. They are in 6th place in the domestic league and they are below their usual standards. They still have a chance to reach the European positions with Luzern being 4 points ahead but it will be tough because there are only 3 rounds to be played. They played well in the Europa Conference League but they failed to reach the final as Fiorentina were the better team in the semifinals. They had a tough loss in the last match against Fiorentina where they played overtime.

Lugano is having a nice season according to their standards. They sit in third position with 50 points which is only 1 point less than 2nd-placed Servette. They will try to reach that 2nd position until the end of the season because that will give them a chance for the next season's UEFA Champions League qualifiers. Lugano is in excellent form with 5 wins, 4 draws, and 1 loss in the last 10 games.

Basel is probably not in the best position right now after their midweek game against Fiorentina but they must win or at least not lose this game if they want to do something this season. Lugano is in excellent form but this will be a tough game for them away from home and I don't think they are good enough to get a win in Basel.
