Basel vs APOEL Match Preview

Basel face APOEL for the second leg of the Europa League last 32 stage, and their 0-3 win on the first leg in Nicosia doesn't give any chance of qualifying in the team from Cyprus.

Basel didn't get the three points last Sunday at their home match against Servette and stayed 5 points behind the first place in the Swiss Super League. However, Basel remains the best team in the league and still has hopes to win the title.

In the first match, Basel prevailed over APOEL and almost secured their qualification. This does not mean that they can relax, as the second leg will be in front of their fans and a comfortable win will give them extra motivation.

On the other hand, APOEL is in a difficult situation. Marinos Ouzounidis tried to change the impact of the bad results, but for the time being, he has not succeeded. After the hopeful start of the Greek manager with a 4-1 home win over Limassol, two consecutive defeats followed, 0-3 to Basel (in this match Blendar Kola took Uzunidis' place as he was suspended), followed by a 2-0 defeat against the mediocre Paphos.

In Switzerland, APOEL will try to perform better probably in their last Europa League match for this season, but with the current form they have, this doesn't seem very likely.

This match may not be that interesting, but at the moment, Basel is in much better shape than APOEL. The odds of the home to win are quite high and this will be my call with a low bet due to the limited interest of the two teams.
