Basel want to win the trophy for a happy ending

This is the final game of the Swiss Cup. The game is knock-out and will take place in Stade De Suisse, Young Boys' home.

It was a disappointing season for Basel in 2019 and surely they want to forget it. After their disappointing start, they eliminated from the Champions League and Europa League group stage and after their consecutive bad results, they couldn't fight for the title since early in Autumn. In 2019 things got better and they secured their participation in the next season's Champions League. In this period they suffered only one loss to Champions Young Boys, in the previous Sunday. They desperately want a win in the final game of the Cup for a happy ending in this mediocre season. It's worth mentioning that if they fail, this will be the second consecutive year without a title for them and that happened again back in 2001. There will be no missings tonight.

Things are completely the opposite of their opponent. Thun made a successful year and they are close to grabbing a ticket for the next season's Europa League. Actually, they can secure it tonight if they win the trophy. Their recent performances weren't great for sure (2 wins in the past 13 games), the fact is that they couldn't score with ease. However, their positive results during the previous months and some 'professional' wins established them in the 3rd place. They want the trophy too, as they haven't won it never in their history. Hunziker and Tosetti won't be available tonight.

Basel have undoubtedly the quality, the experience, and the motive to make a decent finish in this mediocre season. In their last games, they scored with ease but they also conceded goals, probably because they didn't have a true competitive motive. I am sure that they will play quite differently in this final. Thun will follow this trend too, as they can't score with ease. Under 2.5 goals is my call.
