Battle for the third place

St-Etienne registered a huge win vs Marseille (2-1) in the previous round. That was their third concecutive one in Ligue 1. This result combined with Lyon's lost points, put them in  3rd the place of the table which gives them a ticket to the upcoming Champions League qualifiers. Moreover they're undefeated in front of their fans so far. Their 8-2-0 record is the second best in Ligue 1, right behind impeccable Paris Saint Germain.

Lyon haven't been defeated the past four games, however they drew in the last three. The previous week, they had a 2-2 draw in Toulouse's home having scored two goals in the last 15'. Lyon are quite effective in their away games (3-4-2 record), however they conceded 16 goals overall in these 9 games. Actually that their defensive line is not one of the best on the road in Ligue 1.

St-Etienne made a successful start in 2019 and they took advantage of their oponent's lost points, so now they are two points ahead in the battle for the third place. On the other hand, Lyon want to reach third place again and that's possible if they win tonight in Geoffroy-Guichard. That happened just once, with an impressive 5-0 win, in the past 4 years. In my point of view, this is going to be a spectacular game,both teams can score easily. I'll go with the higher odds, St-Etienne to win is my call.
