Boca Juniors vs Racing Club Match Preview

Boca Juniors faces Racing Club for the second leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals. In the first leg, Racing Club prevailed 1-0 and Boca Juniors are called to make an overturn here to qualify in the last four. The match will be held at Bombonera behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In case of a draw, the penalty shoot-out will follow to determine the winner. In the semi-finals, the winner will come up against Santos from Brazil.

We've seen a close game between these two teams a week ago, but Boca Juniors was just unable to equalize. Both sides focused on their defense and created a few goal-scoring chances. Russo's team has to overtake Racing Club here and score more than 1 goal to qualify in the semi-finals.

In the domestic league, Boca Juniors comes from a big comeback in the game against Indepentiende where they won by 1-2. They played with many changes on the squad but still managed to keep their hopes alive for Copa Diego Armando Maradona. Franco Soldano and Cardona helped their team to reach victory by scoring two late goals at the 83rd and 91st minute of the game. Goalkeeper Agustín Rossi had a splendid performance in the game keeping safe Boca with his amazing reflexes, while he also saved a penalty. Also, the 19-year-old Alan Varela made his debut for Boca Juniors in the previous round. 

As I mentioned earlier, Boca Juniors rested their best eleven as they brought all of their focus on today's game with one goal in mind, to qualify in the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores. No significant changes are expected by the manager Russo. Ramon Abila is fully fit and will be available for the game. The team is counting a lot on their strong attacking trio Carlos Tevez, Sebastian Villa, and Edwin Cardona to reach victory.

Racing Club is leading 1-0 on aggregate and they are one step closer to the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores. We saw a very defensive approach by them in the first leg, but still, they managed to open the scoreline in a counter-attack. Melgarejo scored the winning goal with a header at the 60th minute of the game. In the last 30 minutes, both sides slowed down their pace and Racing Club kept their lead with no struggle.

After a 2-1 defeat against Velez Sarsfield, Racing drew 1-1 in the previous round against Estudiantes on the road, playing under a heavy rotation. Copa Libertadores is the main goal this season for manager Sebastian Beccacece and his team they will try their best today to win the qualification ticket for the big final.

Both sides will fight till the end for qualification and I expect this time a faster-paced game with more goal-scoring chances. Over 2.5 goals to be scored is my call in this one.
