Burnley vs Everton Match Preview

Burnley is ranked at 19th place with just five points and comes after a single win a draw and three losses over the last five matches. They finally got their first win of the season when they managed to beat Crystal Palace but right after that they suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat against Manchester City.

Now they return to play at home against a rival that is really struggling and this could be their best shot for trying to earn points. In the past season Burnley was doing pretty good and even ranked above Everton at the end. In fact they won three of the last five h2h games against them while scoring at least a goal in each of them.

Everton, on the other hand, is ranked at 8th place with 16 points and comes after some awful performances where they got just a win and four losses over the last five matches. The enthusiasm they were having at the start of the season seems to be over and especially their defensive side has been far away from solid. They have conceded 17 goals in total, having one of the worst defensive lines in the league and failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the last five matches.

Offensively they have done pretty good with 19 goals scored, averaging almost two goals per game. Their striker Calvert-Lewin is even leading the scorers table with ten goals so far followed by Rodriguez with three goals and three assists.

In conclusion, I think both teams can score at least a goal here. Burnley needs to bounce back after that defeat and with not just history on their side but also a rival that seems to have a leaky defense, I expect them to punish them at least once. Everton, despite all the hype, is still an average team and the latest results confirmed it. I guess this will be a tough duel for them especially because playing on the road, but I see them having more than enough quality in attack to score a goal.
