Chile vs Bolivia Match Preview

Chile faces Bolivia in a preparation game at Estadio El Teniente behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In their most recent games, Chile won 2-0 against Peru at home for the World Cup Qualifiers, followed by a loss 2-1 to Venezuela. They are not at their best so far and they are sitting at the 6th spot with 4 points in total after 4 games played. However, their hopes for qualification are still alive.

A new manager has joined the bench of Chile recently, the experienced Martin Lasarte. For today's friendly, the 60-year-old manager will try to build a rather offensive formation. Arturo Vidal, Mauricia Isla, and Alexis Sanchez were not called for this match. 

Bolivia, on the other hand, had a worse start in the World Cup qualifiers, registering just 1 point so far after 4 rounds played. Their only point came in the match against Paraguay that ended with a 2-2 draw. This was their most recent performance in the World Cup qualifiers. A couple of defeats came before that, against Ecuador, Argentina and Brazil.

Their new manager's new perspective is to build a new team with many young players. Bolivia is always strong in their home field but still, I think that it will be very difficult for them to qualify in the finals. Quite a few changes are expected tonight by the 48-year-old manager Cesar Farias.

Despite being a friendly match, I think we will see an exciting match between these two sides that haven't played official matches for quite a long time. This is a good chance for their managers to test things in their formations and tactics and try out new players as well. Chile is by far the better side, considering the rosters of these two sides. The home win is my call and I also expect Chile to cover the -1,5 Asian Handicap.
