Chile vs Peru Match Preview

Chile face Peru at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, Santiago, for the 3rd round of the South American World Cup 2022 Qualifiers.

The hosts remain winless since the start of the tournament. In the 1st round, Chile suffered a 2-1 defeat against Uruguay, followed by a 2-2 draw against Columbia, in a match where they were back in the score and managed to make a huge comeback, leading by 2-1, but unfortunately for them, Colombia scored the equalizer in the final minute of the added time.

Now they desperately need points to reach a qualifying place in their group. The injured Gary Medel, Charles Aranguiz as well as Gabriel Arias will miss tonight's match. On the other hand, Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez are back and will be available to perform.

In the 1st round, Peru took a great 2-2 draw against Paraguay with Andre Carillo scoring both goals for his team. In the following round, they faced Brazil at home, where they suffered a 2-4 defeat. Despite playing well in that match, Brazil showed their quality difference on the pitch and deservedly got all three points.

Ricardo Nardi's team is now having a very difficult task to cope with and the upcoming matches will be crucial for their future in the group. Paolo Guerrero, Sergio Pena, and Jefferson Farfan are unavailable for tonight's match, as well as Carlos Cededa and Carlos Zambrano who carry a suspension from the match against Brazil.

Chile has a chance to grab some valuable points here and keep alive their hopes for qualification. Peru traveled to Santiago today with a lot of missings in their squad. Home to win is my call, offered at decent 1.91 odds.
