Fulham vs Arsenal Match Preview

In the opening game of the first round of the English Premier League, Fulham faces Arsenal. 

After one year competing in the Championship, Fulham celebrated their promotion to the top level of English football. In the regular season of last season's Championship, they finished 4th, winning a spot in the promotion playoffs. There, they firstly qualified playing against Cardiff in the semifinals, and in the final, they prevailed 2-1 in the extra time over Brentford. 

In the transfer window, the goalkeeper Alphonse Areola from Paris Saint-Germain joined the club, as well as the defenders Kenny Tete from Lyon and Mario Lemina from Galatasaray.

Arsenal had one of the worst years in their Premier League history last season, as they finished 8th in the standings. But apart from that, the season ended quite well for them by winning the FA Cup, prevailing in the final over Chelsea by 2-1, wining also their participation in the Europa League group stage.

This season is full of hopes for Arsenal to have a better run compared with the previous one, started from the transfer window, making quality additions to the club. The most important are those of Willian Borges da Silva, freelancer from Chelsea, Gabriel Magalhães from Lille, and Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.

Fulham showed their strength in the promotion playoffs, but this season they have an completely different task, to survive in the top league. Arsenal, on the other side, are unlikely to repeat last season's disastrous run in the Premier League, but unless they confirm it on the pitch, everything remains uncertain.
