Girona vs Villareal Match Preview

For the 35th round of the Spanish La Liga, Girona welcomes Villarreal.

Girona have continued their positive results of late, last week they drew 2-2 away at Real Sociedad. They may have started the game badly and found themselves down by two goals in the first twenty-five minutes, but then they responded brilliantly and it was their turn to score 2 goals by the break. In the second half they had more of a passive role but still held on and kept the draw.

This was the fourth consecutive match for Girona who remained unbeaten and thus reached 48 points and maintained their 7th and last place which gives them a European ticket for the new season.

Villarreal were impressive last week as they crushed Athletic Bilbao 5-1 at home. It was an easy win as the final score indicates. They found the back of the net twice in the first half and saw their opponents reduce the score in stoppage time. In the second half, armed with their efficiency, they scored 3 more goals giving their victory triumphant proportions.

Thus Villarreal extended their unbeaten streak for the fourth game and the end of the 24th matchday found them in 5th place with 57 points, 5 less than 4th place Real Sociedad.
