Helmond vs Excelsior Match Preview

Helmond is ranked at the 15th spot of the Dutch Eerste Divisie with nine points and comes after a win, two draws, and two losses over the last five matches. Like in the past season they have been pretty much at the same level until now and with no real goals they have the advantage to play without pressure on them.

In the last five matches they managed to score six goals, averaging at least a goal per game and finding the back of the net in four out of five encounters. Against Excelsior they managed to score at least a goal in every home game played in the past years. Despite the 4-0 loss in the Cup game now things should be different as Helmond had more days to rest while Excelsior played three days ago.

Excelsior, on the other side, is ranked at the 8th place with 17 points and is finally in the play off zone after the poor start they had. They come in a very good form as they haven't lost any of the last five matches collecting three wins and two draws.

With 22 goals scored so far they have one of the best attacks in the league, averaging two goals per game and are expected to score here too. Back in October they managed to score 4 against Helmond securing a ticket for the next stage in the Cup. But their defensive side has not been that good with 16 goals conceded until now. In the last season they scored seven goals in two games against Helmond.

In conclusion, I think both teams can score at least a goal here. Helmond has a positive history while at home against Excelsior, and despite how the game ends here, I think they can continue at least their scoring trend. Excelsior needs a victory in order to try and climb in ranks as they try to secure a play off spot.
