Ireland vs Portugal Match Preview

Ireland will be playing against Portugal in the second last round of the World Cup Qualifiers 2022. The game is played at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Ireland is in 4th position, having collected just five points out of six games played. Two more games remaining and even if they win both, they could not reach the top two spots, so for them, there is no motivation to win.

Aaron Connolly for Ireland has not been selected and James Collins, a striker who plays for Cardiff City as a forward, recently got injured. Callum ODowda replaced him.

Portugal is in the second position and cannot finish below the second spot but they need to top the group. They have played a game less than the group leaders Serbia. Portugal is yet to lose a game in this group.

Antony Lopes, Rafa Silva, and Joao Mario are injured for Portugal but they would not mind much as these players are not that important, they are not the first eleven players of F.Santos. The main players for Portugal such as Ronaldo, Bruno, Pepe, Dias are all fit and fine, so it will be hard for Ireland.

Portugal beat Ireland in both last two head-to-head meetings, and I expect Portugal to win this game at least with a two-goal margin. Odds do have value for the hosts to cover -1.5 AH.
