Lamia vs AEL Larissa Match Preview

This rescheduled match of the 17th round of the Greek Super League brings us a matchup between two of the weakest sides, Lamia and AEL Larissa.

The hosts were struggling since the start of the season, and until a couple of weeks ago it seemed that they will not manage to avoid relegation. However, the team improved a lot since the arrival of manager Michael Grigoriou, who has been sacked from AEL earlier this season, and they seem ready to fight to stay in the Super League through the playout process.

In the previous round, Lamia played against league leaders Olympiacos and they lost comfortably 3-0. It was more than obvious that the crucial match for them this week is this one against AEL Larissa and not against much stronger Olympiacos.

AEL Larissa, on the other hand, after one of the worst starts in their history with just one win after 22 games, they took two wins in a row, at home over Panaitolikos (1-0) and over OFI on the road (3-2). Their hopes to remain in the league are still alive and even a point in this one would be welcomed for them.

Lamia seems to be the better side here and with a possible win, they will leave AEL Larissa 6 points behind them. They had a more comfortable game last weekend, and I expect them to be fresher than the visitors who are coming from a difficult away match that drained their energy. The home side to win is my call in this one.
