Leicester – Southampton Match Preview

For the 3rd matchday of the English Premier League, Leicester welcomes Southampton at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester had a great fight last week but ultimately couldn't avoid a 4-2 defeat to Arsenal. However, they cannot complain about the result as their opponent was better throughout the match and deservedly Leicester did not take anything from the match. In the first half, Arsenal had many chances, as a result of which Leicester went to half time break with a two-goal deficit. In the replay they tried to react, reduced the score twice (2-1 and 3-2) but Arsenal was not in the mood to make the match a derby and easily took the three points.

So Leicester remained with one point after their opening game's draw against Brentford.

The 2-2 draw at Leeds last weekend satisfied Southampton, based on their performance. After a mediocre first half they got off to a poor start in the second half conceding two quick goals, but they did not give up, scoring twice in the last half hour. On the positive side, they can keep their reaction, but for one more match, after the opening game, they showed many big defensive weaknesses.

This was Southampton's first point in the new season after their loss to Tottenham in their opening game.

This is a match between two teams that have not started well in the new season. However, their common element is the ease with which they allow chances and goals. I expect something similar in this match between them and my pick will be the Over 2.5 goals alternative at 1.67 odds.
