Liverpool vs Porto Match Preview

Liverpool welcomes Porto in the second to last matchday of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

The Reds have secured not only their qualification to the next stage but also first place in their group. With 4/4 victories so far they have proved that they are in excellent condition. They come from a 4-0 home triumph over Arsenal in the Premier League, in a match that they were almost impeccable.

Porto managed to hold second place in a very difficult group and will essentially play their European future in the last home match against Atletico Madrid. At Anfield they will try without anxiety to make an upset and get the victory that will give them a huge advantage in the qualifying battle. A draw for the Portuguese side will only matter if the other group match also ends in a draw.

In the first match between these two teams, Liverpool triumphed over Porto on the road with the impressive 1-5. II do not rule out to see a similar score again at Anfield. Liverpool may not care for the points but a Champions League home game is always important and Jurgen Klopp is expected to line up the team with all the stars.

My choice will be the home win at halftime which is quite possible due to the scoring fluency of Liverpool. The hosts are expected to start strong in their home with the aim of easily clearing the match. I will not be greedy by betting on HT/FT 1-1 as depending on the scoring in the other match of the group, the match at Anfield can change hands towards the final whistle. The stake of course will quite low as the prediction of the half time winner always involves a lot of risk.
