Liverpool vs Real Madrid Match Preview

Liverpool and Real Madrid will meet in the 2022 UEFA Champions League final at Stade de France in Paris.

Liverpool in the semifinals overcame the obstacle of Villarreal relatively easily, beating them twice. In the first match played in England they prevailed with 2-0 while in the second leg, although they were losing at half time with 2-0, they showed their quality in the second half and came back to the victory with 3-2. Earlier at the knock-out stage, they had initially eliminated Inter and in the quarterfinals Benfica. So they qualified for another final, having won the big trophy a total of 6 times, seeking to close this season with one more success.

In the domestic league, Liverpool fought until the end for the title, prevailing 2-1 over Wolves in the last match but at the same time Manchester City won Aston Villa in their own match and the Reds were inevitably limited to the 2nd place in this season's Premier League. This was the only title they have lost this year as they are the winners of the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Real Madrid clearly had a harder task to reach the big final of the competition as right after the group stage they eliminated Paris Saint-Germain while in the quarterfinals they prevailed over Chelsea. In the semifinals, their opponent was Manchester City and they lost 4-3 in the first match in England but in the second leg played in Madrid they came back from 1-0 to 2-1 and sent the match to extra time. In the extra half hour, they scored once more and with a 3-1 aggregate score they qualified for the big final.

Real Madrid has won the European championship 13 times in the past and inevitably they are after this title as well. This will close a dream season as they have won this year's Spanish Primera Division quite easily.

It is undoubtedly a huge final between two European powerhouses. Liverpool has been in amazing form since the beginning of the year, combining spectacular football and results. Real Madrid was not so spectacular but no one can underestimate a team that made such big upsets to reach the grand final.
