Malta vs Italy Match Preview

Malta started their campaign with a 2-1 loss to North Macedonia in a game where they played good football. The fact that they managed to score a goal is proof for that. Now of course their rival will be of another level as Italy has more quality than North Macedonia. Still, being at home in front of their fans I guess Malta might try once again to play like they did in the previous duel.

In a group like this, their main goal will be to try and avoid finishing last-placed but it will not be easy. Defensively they have not been very good as they failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the last five games conceding a total of eight goals.

Italy, on the other side, started their campaign with a loss in a direct duel against England and now they can not allow another false step. They played very bad in the first half against England but in the second half they were improved and if they bring that game even here they should get back on winning ways.

Like I said they have a high quality team which is much better than Malta. In attack, Retegui who even scored in the previous game is expected to play once again from the start alongside Berardi and Gnonto who will be on the wings. I think these players should be on the score sheet.

In conclusion, I think this game can have over 2.5 goals. Malta will have to make the best use of the chances they will have and it is the only way for them to punish their rivals. Italy won each of the last five h2h games against them and I expect them to do it once again now. They should score a couple of goals with the firepower they have upfront.
