Manchester City vs Chelsea Match Preview

Manchester City humiliated Everton with the impressive 5-0 in their last Premier League game. Pep Guardiola tested most of the starters of the final and they lived up to his expectations winning comfortably in a rather spiritless match. Their legendary striker Sergio Aguero played his last Premier League game scoring a brace. 

This season's City is a much-improved version compared with previous P.Guardiola's teams. In the previous seasons, they were playing in higher tense, trying to create as much as they could. Of course, they continue pressing their opponents, however, the most important for them is to control ball possession without harry in attack, avoiding losing players' position. This is something that P.Guardiola has already confessed in a recent press conference.

Chelsea played a crucial game in Villa Park fighting for a Champions League spot. They dominated the match (the Xgoals were 0,98 vs 3,43 for the blues), but they finally lost 2-1 the game. However, they were extremely lucky, as Tottenham prevailed 2-4 over Leicester and the last Champions League spot was gifted to them.

This season's Chelsea was pretty changed under the German manager Thomas Tuhel. Their main disadvantage was that they were in trouble to defend when they were losing the ball possession in their attack. The last Chelsea version, the one from F.Lampard, was playing in a disordered manner, without balance on the pitch. The former manager of PSG found a solution to this problem in a very short period and gave the much-required balance to the 'blues'.

This season these two sides faced each other 4 times. Chelsea has the upper hand so far, winning three times and losing once. 

This is the first Champions League final for Guardiola after 10 years, while this is the second in a row for Tuhel, after losing last season's final being the head coach for PSG. Both sides will try to control the game, trying to attack patiently. They have excellent quality in their squads and the minimum I expect from them is to find the net at least once.
