Manchester City vs Liverpool Match Preview

The FIFA World Cup is over and football club season is back. In this match of the EnglishLeague Cup, Manchester City will play against Liverpool.

Manchester City is second in the league behind Arsenal but still, they are the main favorite to win the league. In cup competitions, Manchester City has been dominant in the last few seasons. In four out of the last five seasons, City won this trophy. Manchester City had tough games in this Cup as they already eliminated Chelsea in the round before this one.

Liverpool, on the other side, is not playing that good in the league but they could definitely improve. They had a lot of important players that did not go to the FIFA World Cup and had time to prepare as Salah, Alcantara, Matip, Robertson, etc. In cup competitions, Jurgen Klopp usually fields a rotated side which is something to be considered here.

Guardiola has always taken this competition seriously and I believe he will go into it with a strong squad with players like Gundogan, Mahrez, Haaland, and Laporte. Having also the home advantage in this match, I believe that it is enough for City at least not to lose.
