Metz vs Caen Match Preview

Metz is ranked in 5th place with 36 points and comes in a great run as they are unbeaten in the last five matches collecting three wins and two draws. Currently, they sit four points behind the top two spots which means a direct promotion ticket to Ligue1 and in case of a win here they could shorten that distance to just one point while climbing to the 3rd place.

With 35 goals scored Metz has the second-best offensive side in the league and in the last five duels scored a total of ten goals averaging two goals per game while managing to find the back of the net in each encounter. They have been scoring consistently for seven consecutive games in a row across all competitions. At home they are unbeaten in the last six games with the last defeat coming back in September 2022.

Having already one of the best offensive players in the league, Mikautadze with 11 goals - 5 assists, now they added also Skuka who is a striker with great potential and will be of big help for them.

Caen, on the other side, is ranked in 9th place with 32 points. They come after two wins two draws and a loss over the last five matches. It has been a season full of ups and downs for them and in fact they have more or less the same distance from the relegation zone as from the promotion zone.

They have scored 26 goals which makes them one of the weakest offensive sides from the top half teams and even their defense with 23 goals conceded has been quite leaky. On the road they won just two out of 11 matches in total, having one of the worst performances.

Mendy has been the key player for their attack with 10 goals - 2 assists but apart from him, I do not see other potential in this squad to aim for higher.

In conclusion I think Metz could win this game or get at least a draw out of it. They are playing much better football and come in a better form than their rivals who failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the last five road matches. Caen does not have what it takes to compete for promotion this season and the middle of the table seems the best they can get.
