Monza - Brescia Match Preview

In the playoffs of Serie B, Monza will play at home against Brescia. The first leg was played in Brescia and Monza managed to beat them by 2:1. They were 1:0 down early in the match but managed to win in the end with the help of Gytkjaer who scored both goals for Monza.

Monza has had a solid season. They had a great opportunity to qualify directly for the Serie A in the last match of the season against Perugia. If they had won that match they would have finished in second place and qualified directly. But they lost 1:0 in that match and everyone thought they are done. However, they were impressive in the first leg against Brescia.

Brescia was in terrific form at home prior to the first leg against Monza. They had not lost for 13 matches in a row at Mario Rigamonti. But that match even though it started well for them ended in an unexpected way. Everyone at the club was devastated by that loss. I believe that it was a match that will not be easily forgotten.

Monza won three out of the last five matches against Brescia. In the first leg, they were the better team and I expect them to do better also in this second leg. I am sure that Monza owner Silvio Berlusconi promised huge money for his players if they manage to get into Serie A, and that could be an additional motive for the hosts.
