Olympiacos Piraeus vs Antwerp Match Preview

Olympiacos Piraeus welcomes Antwerp in their opening game for the UEFA Europa League group stage.

Greek champions fail to qualify to the UEFA Champions League group stage. They were eliminated in penalty shoot-out from Bulgarian Ludogorec and after playing in the UEFA Europa League playoffs they won a ticket for the group stage of the competition.

In their opening game for the Greek Super League, Olympiacos didn’t manage to win Atromitos, in a game that they had full control of but failed to find the net after 16 total shots (6 on target).

Antwerp eliminated Omonia Nicosia in the penalty shoot-out to enter the UEFA Europa League group stage. In their domestic league, they are 11th-placed with a pretty balanced record, two wins, two draws, and two losses. 

Olympiacos is a strong home side and I do not expect inexperienced Antwerp in this level of games to be a tough opponent for the Greek champions. The recent bore draw in the Greek League could make them hungrier for a victory. Antwerp is the weakest side in this group and anything other than a win will be a failure for the Greek side. The Belgian side in their only away match this season for this competition was mediocre and inevitably was defeated 4-2 to Omonia Nicosia.

The home win is offered at decent 1.74 odds right now (Monday morning) and I do not expect to stay so high until the matchday.
