Panathinaikos vs Olympiakos Piraeus Match Preview

The 22nd round of the Greek Super League brings us the classic Greek derby between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos.

After a very bad beginning in the season, Panathinaikos showed quite a lot of improvement and their hopes are still alive for a ticket in the European competitions.

In the last 7 rounds, they only lost 1 point, in their home draw against Lamia. Their midweek cup game against PAS Giannina has been canceled and the players got plenty of time to get prepared for today's match.

Olympiakos, on the other hand, continues their amazing campaign in the league, remaining at the top of the table. Since the 2-0 home defeat against Porto back in December in the Champions League group stage, Olympiakos failed to win only 2 league matches, sharing points with PAOK and AEK on the road. 

The visitors are on an 8-game winning streak (5 in the league and 3 in the Greek cup) and seems to be in perfect shape. In the first leg of the Greek Cup semi-finals, they faced strong Aris and prevailed by 2-1.

Panathinaikos desperately need all three points here but Olympiakos will be a very difficult opponent for them to handle. Olympiakos, on the other hand, will try to reach another victory in order to keep high their psychology for the upcoming match against Einthoven in the Europa League. Olympiakos to win seems a value bet here and it's going be my final call.
