Paraguay vs Peru Match Preview

Paraguay face Peru for the first round of the CONMEBOL World Cup 2022 qualifiers. The match will be held behind closed doors at the Defensores del Chaco, Asuncion.

Paraguay reached the quarterfinals on the last Copa America, where they got eliminated by Brazil in the penalties shootout. Since then, they've played a total of six friendly games, under the manager Eduardo Berizzo trying to male a more competitive team.

Many new players have been called to the squad. Unavailable due to Covid-19 is Santiago Arzamendia, as well as the 22-year-old Jorge Morel.

On the other hand, Peru, continues with the 62 years old manager Ricardo Alberto Gareka Nardi on their bench for a fifth consecutive year, hoping to get a ticket to the World Cup 2022. In recent years, they had a great run on the tournaments. In the last Copa America, they managed to make it until the final.

Unavailable for today's game is their captain, Paolo Guerrero. A place in the first eleven is expected for the very good striker Raúl Mario Ruidíaz Misitich who scores with ease in the United States at Seattle.
