Patronato vs Velez Sarsfield Match Preview

Patronato face Velez Sarsfield for the last round of the 6th group in Copa Diego Maradona. The match will be held behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The hosts continue to underperform in the league. In the previous round, they suffered another defeat, this time against Huracan by 1-0 on the road, and failed to score a goal once again. So far, they have only got 1 point in the group and their hopes for qualification are already lost, but they would like to end their tasks with a good performance tonight.

However, Gustavo Alvarez's team lacks quality on the attack and this could be very difficult for them. I don't expect any sort of change by Patronato in this one.

On the other hand, Velez Sarsfield managed to secure a ticket to the next round of Copa Sudamericana, prevailing 1-5 over Deportivo Cali after a very good performance. In the first leg, Velez had won easily by 2-0 at home. In the domestic league, they suffered a 0-1 defeat against Gimnasia, playing with a heavy rotation.

Currently, they have a total of 8 points and they need a win here to finish at the top-duo of the group. In case of a draw, Huracan must win the other match in order for Velez to qualify. Although, I expect Mauricio Pellegrino's side to enter the pitch strong and confident for a positive result.
