Portugal vs Serbia Match Preview

Portugal will be playing their final qualifying game in Lisbon against Serbia.

Portugal is at the top of the table, having won five games and drawn twice. They remain unbeaten in the last six games played winning five of them.

Portugal drew their last game against Ireland but a win or a draw in that match meant almost the same thing, Portugal needs a draw in this game to secure a place in the  final stage of the World Cup 2022. This is because they have a better goal difference than the Serbian team. 

Serbia also remains unbeaten in this group as they have won five games and drawn two  but they have a goal difference not as good as the Portuguese team. Serbia won over Qatar in their most recent game, a friendly game played a couple of days ago. 

Portugal rested their key players such as Diego Jota, Ruben Dias and Cancelo in the game against Ireland to be fresh for this one. Bernando Silva missed that game due to injury but would be back here in the starting eleven.

A draw would be enough for Portugal but they can't play for draw as it's risky, so they would start looking for an early goal and they are capable of doing that. Serbia could also push bodies forward wanting a goal but Portugal have fast players who can successfully counter-attack. I expect Portugal to win this game.
