Preston vs Rotherham Match Preview

Preston is ranked at 7th place with five points and comes after a win and two draws over the first three duels played. They started with two consecutive 0-0 draws against Wigan and Hull. Finally, they found their first win in the most recent game grabbing a 1-0 win against Luton. Even in the EFL Cup they had a good display as they beat Huddersfield 1-4 on the road.

The last season was pretty average for Preston and it seems they have managed to build on top of that. It is true that in the league they scored just one goal but the team has had some very good chances to score. I guess with a bit more focus and luck we can see them at their best soon enough. The fact that they managed to keep Riis who was their best scorer in the past season is important despite the fact that he has failed to score in any of the three league games.

Rotherham, on the other side, is ranked at 8th place with four points and comes after a win and a draw in the first two encounters. They started with a 1-1 draw against Swansea and then thrashed 4-0 Reading. Both games were played at home ground.

Five goals in two matches for a newly promoted team in the Championship is not bad at all and I think they have a decent team to not just try and secure the stay for next season but also aim for a surprise. In these two games, they created 12 shots on goal and managed to convert five of them. In the EFL Cup they also advanced to the next stage, winning 2-1 over Port Vale in a duel where they totally dominated their rivals.

In conclusion, I think both teams can score at least a goal here. Preston has been playing quite well in these first matches and at home I expect them to find the back of the net at least once. Rotherham has got very good offensive quality and I think they could score once again now. We have seen both teams score a goal in each of the last five h2h games between them.
