RB Leipzig – Mainz Match Preview

In this match of German Bundesliga, RB Leipzig will play against Mainz at Red Bull Arena. Both teams will try to win this match and I expect some goals.

RB Leipzig has a good roster with some wonderful young and talented players. They played in the UEFA Champions League this season and that has taken its toll on their performances in the domestic league. In the UEFA Champions League, they faced Manchester City and PSG, perhaps the two best teams in the competition at the moment, and still managed to finish third in the group with seven points won. They made some big performances in the UEFA CL but in the Bundesliga, they are struggling big time. They had plenty of time to prepare themselves for this match and now can put their focus on this league.

Mainz has two points more in the league than the home side. They are in 9th position while RB Leipzig is in 10th. They have one of the best defenses in the league having conceded only 17 goals. Only Freiburg and Bayern conceded fewer goals so far. Their main problem is playing away from home, actually, they lost six out of eight total matches on the road.

Leipzig had some big wins over Mainz in the last couple of matches. Out of the last five, the hosts won in three and the away team won in two. But Leipzig had a couple of huge wins 8-0 and 0-5. These sides have played five times at Red Bull Arena and Leipzig won in four out of those. The other match ended in a draw. As I have stated Mainz is struggling a lot on the road and I expect them to lose this match comfortably.
