RB Leipzig vs Basaksehir Match Preview

In the first round of the Champions League group stage, RB Leipzig faces Basaksehir at the Redbull Arena. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, UEFA allowed only one thousand supporters to attend this match.

It's the third time RB Leipzig reaches the groups of UCL. They won their participation by finishing 3rd in the standings of the domestic league last season. So far, they had a great run in Bundesliga under the 33 years old manager Julian Nagelsmann, actually, they are topping the standings having 3 wins and 1 draw after 4 rounds played. In the previous round, they won 0-2 against Augsburg on the road.

RB Leipzig's missings for tonight's match are Amadou Haidara who is positive to Covid-19 as well as the 24 years old Lukas Manuel Klostermann due to injury.

Basaksehir won their participation in the UCL by winning the league title last year in the Turkish Super Lig. However, their start in the new season was not as expected, having just 1 win and 1 draw after 5 rounds. After these results, they are 9 points away from the top of the standings. Their Champions League task will not be easy at all as they have to face some of the top European clubs (Manchester United and Paris Saint-German are in the same group).

A really defensive formation is expected by Okan Buruk, having the 35-year-old Demba Ba as the sole attacker in the front-line.  

These two sides had a completely different start in the new season. RB Leipzig is currently topping the German Bundesliga, while they also have greater quality and experience than tonight's opponents. I expect RB Leipzig to get all three points with ease in this one. RB Leipzig to win and also cover the AH -1.5 goals is my call.
