Real Sociedad vs RB Leipzig Match Preview

Real Sociedad comes in this game not in their best possible form as they managed to win just one game out of the last five encounters across all competitions. In the other four they got two losses and two draws. One of these losses came in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals where they suffered a heavy 0-4 defeat against Betis and were eliminated from the competition. Even in La Liga they were thrashed 4-0 by Ath Bilbao and now dropped to 7th place.

In the previous leg against RB Leipzig, they were very lucky to get a draw at the final whistle as they converted into two goals their only two shots on goal they head. They were totally dominated by their rivals in every aspect and I fear another difficult game awaits them. The list of players expected to miss this game is long with names like Januzaj, Merino, Monreal, Rico, Fernandez, and Barrenetxea. This could be proved a key factor against such a solid opponent.

RB Leipzig, on the other hand, comes in a much better run here. After advancing to the DFB Pokal quarter-finals beating 2-0 Hansa Rostock they also managed a big comeback in the league where they have entered the top-four after winning five out of their last six league games. Their only loss came against Bayern Munich.

Like I said earlier, they played much better than Real Sociedad in the first leg and for me, they deserved to win despite how the game ended. The odds are offered like this mainly because of the fact that they will play on the road but I think this will not disturb them too much. The visitors are fully fit with the exceptions of Angelino and Halstenberg so in terms of injuries, they have significantly fewer problems than their rivals have.

In conclusion, I think RB Leipzig can win this match or get at least a draw out of it. Real Sociedad is playing awful football right now and there is no way to back them up against such an in-form rival. RB Leipzig has found great momentum and they are hungry to win at least a trophy this season.
