Southampton vs Chelsea Match Preview

Southampton welcomes Chelsea at Saint Mary's for the 25th round of the English Premier League.

The hosts faced Wolves in the previous round, and despite taking an early lead in the first half, they conceded two goals and failed to get anything positive out of the match. This was their 6th consecutive defeat in the league, smashing their longest losing streak in their Premier League history. After all these negative results, Southampton is placed 13th in the table after 23 games played, having a total of 29 points.

Chelsea, on the other hand, continues their great campaign in the league, coming from a 2-0 win over Newcastle. They were far better on the pitch and secured their victory early in the game by scoring two goals in the first half. The visitors registered their 4th consecutive win in the Premier League, sitting 4th in the table with 42 points. From now on, they'll try to remain at the top-four spots to keep their hopes alive of participating in the next season's Champions League.

I think Chelsea are deservedly the favorites in this match, considering the current form of these two sides. Southampton struggles a lot in the last few weeks, while Chelsea is on an excellent streak since the change of their manager. The home win is my call for this one, offered at decent 1.77 odds.
