Sydney FC vs Newcastle Jets Match Preview

Sydney faces Newcastle Jets in Jubilee Oval for the Australian A-League. In the resumption of the league, after being stopped because of the COVID 19 pandemic, Sydney started with a victory, prevailing 3-1 over Wellington Phoenix, at home. Thus, they remained at the top of the standings having also already secured the title.

With 51 points in total, they are currently having a 11-point distance from the second-placed Melbourne City, having also two games in hand. The hosts are counting a lot on Trent Buhagiar and Adam le Fondre, who have performed exceptionally during the season. 

On the other hand, Newcastle Jets have not played any official match since the break. Their most recent official game was against Melbourne City four months ago, when they won 2-1.

They are quite low in the standings, with few hopes left for the 6h place that leads to playoffs. At the moment, they are 6 points away from 6th place, and I don't think they will be able to get there. The following match will be against Central Coast Mariners on the road. 

Comparing these two sides, Sydney is the superior here. They play without any stress since they achieved their goal this season, while Newcastle Jets are a very weak side comparing with them. Possibly both sides have lost their form since the break, but Sydney has already played a match a few days ago. I expect from the hosts easily to get all three points, considering the quality they have. Home to win is my call in this one.
