They have 24 points which is only 3 points less than 4th-placed Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid won against Valladolid in their first league match after the break and they are now 2nd-placed having the same points as Barcelona, but Barcelona has a better goal difference. Real Madrid has only 1 loss this season and that loss came against Rayo Vallecano before the World Cup break. This match is important for them because Barcelona is playing against Atletico Madrid this weekend.

The biggest issue for Villareal this season is scoring goals as they scored only 17 in 15 matches.
