Zenit Petersburg vs Club Brugge KV Match Preview

Zenit Petersburg's run so far in the Russian Premier League is impressive, being undefeated for 6 consecutive rounds (3 wins, 3 draws). However, the quality and competition in Russia are far below the standards of the UEFA Champions League. Things are  difficult for the Russian team in their Champions League group, as they are also facing teams like Borussia Dortmund and Lazio.

Tonight are missing for Zenit the suspended left-back Douglas Santos as well as the injured Malcom.

In the last round of the Belgian league, Club Brugge's 5-win streak came to an end drawing 1-1 against Standard Liege last Saturday. Despite this result, Culb Brugge reached the top of the standings, as Charleroi was defeated in their game.

The suspended center-back Simon Deli will miss tonight's match, as well as Simon Mignolet (goalkeeper), Odilo Kossounou (defender), and Michal Krmencik (attacker) who where tested positive to Covid-19. In addition, defender Matej Mitrovic remains injured.

Zenit Petersburg are the favorites here, I would also support them even if Club Brugge had less missings.  This is probably the easiest game for Zenit in the group stage of the Champions League, and they have to win here if they want to reach a top-2 spot in the standings.
