A fight for the top six

Although their opponent took twice a double lead (2-0, 3-1), they managed to score two goals in the second half, so now they are the favourites in the second leg this Thursday in Sevilla. In their most recent game for La Liga, they suffered a 3-0 loss vs Leganes on the road. Now they have three points less than the top-six spots which give a European ticket. Midfielder Javi Garcia is suspended, in contrast to winger Junior Firpo who served his suspension and he will perform tonight. Cristian Tello is injured.

Alaves finally registered a win, after four negative results. On Monday, they won 2-0 Levante in their home. Their offensive start led to the first goal of the game at 23'. From that point on, they controlled the game, their opponent weren't actually a big threat. The final score was formed in the dying minutes. Now, they sit on the 6th place, but Sociedad have just one point less, after their win on yesterday's match. Defender Martin is missing because of his injury while D.Brasanac and T.Inui are allowed to perform, even if they're on loan from Betis.

Tonight's game in Benito Villamarin is crucial, as it is a battle for a top-six spot. It's definitely in a bad timing for Betis, as this match is between their games vs Rennais for the Europa League. Based on the fact that the Spanish teams are concerned about Europa League knock-out games, I expect Quique Setien to rotate his team. On the other hand, Alaves are searching for another three-pointer to keep their advantage against their opponents in the battle for the 6th place. These two teams are almost equal and considering this game's specific nature for the home team, I found the odds on the away win quite tempting to back. Alaves to win!
