It was another unpredicted result for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Their 0-2 home loss vs Crystal Palace came only 4 days after their 3-1 triumph vs Tottenham on the road! Even after these eratic results, Wolves sit on the first half of the Premier League table, however it seems impossible to get involved in the battle for a European spot. FA Cup could be a good alternative for the team of Nuno Espírito Santo, thought. Given that the next Premier League game is in Etihad vs Manchester City, a tie that the Portuguese manager could not expect to win something, I take for sure that we’ll see tonight the strongest version of Wolverhampton. Diogo Jota, R. Saïss are back in contention, 100% fit now.
After their 1-2 loss in Etihad from Man City, Liverpool are still on the top of Premier League, 4 points clear from their opponents. It is obvious that they still have the upper hand for the title, hopping that their first loss of the season for the league will not be a start for a negative run. I am expecting here a full rotated squad from J.Klopp, definitely the upcoming Premier League game on the road vs Brighton is more important for the Reds. I take for sure that from now on J.Klopp is concerned more about Premier League games and the knock out stage of Champions League, than any cup competition. S.Mignolet and A.Moreno are confirmed starters, while teenagers R.Camacho and C.Jones could make their senior debuts. Defenders J.Gomez and J.Matip are definitely out due to their injuries.
I cannot rule out anything in this knock out cup game. Wolves have won four of their six FA Cup ties against Liverpool, the most recent of them was in Anfield in January 2017, when they were 18th in the Championship. Liverpool have been knocked out in January in all three previous campaigns under Jurgen Klopp, I am not at all sure that the German manager fancies more FA cup games in his team heavy schedule. I will look for the upset here!
