England vs Iran Match Preview

The opening game of the World Cup 2022, Group B, will be between England and Iran. 

England is one of the favorite teams to win the trophy in my opinion as they have a very solid squad. They reached the semi-final in the last World Cup and the final game in the recent EURO. England would most probably start Trippier at the right-back position as Walker is not fully fit and Reece James is injured. 

Sterling this season has been a big flop and it would not be a surprise if Southgate starts Grealish ahead of him. England under Southgate like playing defensive football but Iran is not a tough opponent so I feel England would try to start strongly and take an early lead to calm the nerves. 

Iran's key player Omid Ebrahimi will miss this game as he is suffering from a groin injury and this would be a big blow as he is very experienced. Jahanbaksh and Taremi would be the forwards for Iran, the latter plays for Porto and will be a big danger for the Three Lions.

Iran has won three out of the last six games played.

My prediction for the game is England to lead at the break. I am staking five units here. The offered odds are above even and I feel they have good value.
