Switzerland found themselves in one of the toughest groups in this World Cup as they will have to face Brazil, Serbia and Cameroon. It is going to be a real battle for the second spot in my opinion which means that this opening game is going to be of a crucial importance.

After a poor start in the UEFA Nations League where they lost the first three in a row they managed to pull a nice comeback winning the remaining three duels, avoiding relegation to League B. During this streak they beat teams like Portugal and Spain.

In the only friendly game played before the start of the World Cup they lost 2-0 to Ghana but I would not be worried about that. Defensively they are a solid team and if they were to play again with the 3-1-4-2 line up like they did against Ghana I guess we will experience a slow game.

Cameroon, on the other side, has secured a spot in the African Nations Championship after taking care of Equatorial Guinea in the final. They lost 1-0 on the road but managed to beat them 2-0 at home. Also in the Africa Cup of Nations they have made a good start as they beat Burundi 0-1 on the road taking a step towards the next stage.

In the four friendly games they played before the World Cup they got two draws and two losses but the interesting detail is that all these four games had under 2.5 goals. From their last ten matches across all competitions only once we saw over 2.5 goals and only once they conceded more than two goals.

Cameroon is a team that lacks the big names upfront which should push them to a more defensive approach.

In conclusion, I think this game can have under 2.5 goals. It is a huge game for both teams and each of them will try to avoid defeat at all costs.
